A Norwegian-American illustrator, writer, and adventuress at heart, Kelsey grew up between the fields of rural MI and the forests of NC. Curious about everything, she speaks six languages and travels frequently, feeling most at home surrounded by the Arctic mountains and fjords of Northern Norway.
She received her bachelor's in Medieval and Early Modern Studies from the University of NC at Chapel Hill and her master's in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Working primarily in watercolor and papercutting, Kelsey authors books ranging from picture books to YA fantasy to adult literary fiction. Apart from napping, she enjoys practicing traditional English longbow archery, reading, and hiking with her illustrator husband and wolf-dog. Her favorite scents are forests in winter, freshly baked bread, warm amber mixed with vanilla and sandalwood, and birch trees after rain.
She is also an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and currently lives in NC with her husband, dog, and rather fat cat.
